EDB expects another reduction in Armenia’s refinancing rate

YEREVAN, November 4. /ARKA/. Taking into account the persistent inflation below the target range of the Central Bank of Armenia (4±1.5%), the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) expects another reduction in the refinancing rate in December.

"The Central Bank of Armenia reduced the refinancing rate by 0.25 percentage points to 7.25% at its meeting on October 29. This decision was made against a backdrop of weak inflation, attributed to falling international prices for goods and raw materials, slower wage growth, and subdued inflation expectations. Consumer price growth was 0.6% year-on-year in September, down from 1.3% year-on-year in August," the EDB weekly macro review reports.

This marks the 12th consecutive reduction in the refinancing rate since June of last year, when the rate stood at 10.5%, and the seventh cut since the start of the current year (from 8.75% in January). -0-
