YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. The first batch of 5,500 roses has been exported from Armenia to Latvia.

During an event at Zvartnots Airport, Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, stated that exports to Latvia are important for the Armenian economy, as they contribute to the diversification of export markets and the deepening of economic cooperation between Armenia and the EU, Armenpress reports.

"The EU supports the expansion of Armenian exports to Europe, as part of which the first batch of 5,500 roses has been sent to Latvia," Maragos noted.

Maragos added that Latvia is not the only destination for Armenian flowers, and that cooperation with the Netherlands is already underway. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan, in turn, noted that the dispatch of the first export shipment is a symbolic and important step in terms of developing economic relations between Armenia and the European Union.

He also emphasized that this process coincided with the launch of direct flights between Latvia and Armenia, which will provide additional impetus for the development of bilateral ties.

Latvian Ambassador to Armenia Edite Medne also emphasized that Armenian-Latvian relations have intensified in recent months."Direct flights will provide European businessmen with the opportunity to visit Armenia and become acquainted with the country's economic opportunities and culture," Medne said.
