YEREVAN, August 21. /ARKA/. Robert Ghukasyan, Kalavan village chief, was appointed Tuesday as advisor to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. On his Facebook page, the premier wished productive work to his new-appointed advisor.

Nikol Pashinyan visited the Kalavan community in late July. He met villagers and talked to them. Robert Ghukasyan then told the prime minister how eco tourism was developing here. He showed the construction of guest houses in the community.

Ghukasyan has developed the abandoned Kalavan village into a popular destination for tourists.
Speaking with Ghukasyan during his visit to Kalavan, Pashinyan told him that he would appoint the village chief as his advisor, and Ghukasyan would share his experience with other villages' authorities.

Robert Ghukasyan is archeologist, who has taken part in many international expeditions. In 2013, he established Time Land fund in a bid to take the village out of the deadlock and create jobs to local residents.

Some 2,500 tourists have visited Kalavan in 2017 alone bringing over $40,000 to the government budget. This amount is 25 times more than the village's annual budget.

Earlier, on July 15, the prime minister signed decrees dismissing a number of officials from the government's staff. His key advisors Arsen Gasparyan and Aram Gharibyan were among them. -0---
