In Armenia, 12-month inflation was 4.2% in May, with a 0.8% deflation recorded for the month

In May 2026, compared to May 2025, inflation in Armenia was 4.2%, while compared to April of this year, deflation was 0.8%. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee.

YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. In May 2026, compared to May 2025, inflation in Armenia was 4.2%, while compared to April of this year, deflation was 0.8%. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee.

In May 2026, compared to May 2025, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 6.4%, while compared to April, they decreased by 2.3%. Alcohol and tobacco prices increased by 7.7% year-on-year, and by 0.4% month-on-month.

Prices for clothing and footwear in May increased by 1.8% compared to May of the previous year and by 0.5% compared to April. The cost of housing and utilities, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels increased by 1.1% year-on-year and by 0.3% month-on-month. Prices for household goods, appliances, and home maintenance services increased by 0.4% year-on-year and by 0.2% month-on-month.

In healthcare, price growth was 3.7% year-on-year, with a 0.1% month-on-month decrease. In transportation, prices increased by 3.2% compared to May last year and by 1.3% compared to April. In communications, growth was 1.2% year-on-year, with no month-on-month change, while in recreation and culture, prices increased by 1.6% year-on-year and by 0.2% month-on-month.

In education, prices increased by 8.3% compared to May 2025, with no month-on-month change. In the restaurant and hotel sectors, growth was 3.8% year-on-year and 1% month-on-month. Prices for various goods and services increased by 2.9% year-on-year and 0.1% compared to April.

Meanwhile, in the non-food market, prices increased by 2.1% in May 2026 compared to May 2025, and by 0.5% compared to April. Tariffs for services increased by 2.7% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month.

Armenia's 2026 state budget projects economic growth at 5.4%. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the first quarter of this year, by the end of 2026, Armenia's GDP growth is expected to be 7.1-4.7%, depending on scenario (A-B), 5.7-5.3% in 2027, and 4.9-5.2% in 2028.
