YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. The nominal salary in Armenia increased by 6.6% in January-September 2024, reaching 280,256 drams, said Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.

“The average salary in the public sector is 217,000 drams, while in the private sector it is 305,000 drams,” he stated at a meeting of the parliamentary commission on financial, credit, and budgetary issues on Monday.

The Finance Minister also noted that the number of employed individuals increased by 5% in the first nine months of last year, totaling 752,288 people. This growth was driven by an increase in employees in the trade, education, and construction sectors.

According to the previously published report by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, "Armenia: Economic Prospects. January-September 2024," the three highest-paying sectors in Armenia in September 2024 were information and communication (835,840 drams), financial and insurance activities (809,417 drams), and mining and quarrying (478,763 drams).

Compared to September 2023, average wages increased in all sectors, except for information and communication, construction, and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply.

The highest growth in wages was recorded in the following sectors: financial and insurance activities (up by 40.4%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (up by 13.5%), and manufacturing (up by 13.1%). ($1 = 396.84 drams)
