Rosatom has offered Armenia cooperation in the construction of nuclear power plants of varying capacities

The Russian state corporation Rosatom is offering Armenia comprehensive cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
YEREVAN, February 7. /ARKA/. The Russian state corporation Rosatom is offering Armenia comprehensive cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. This was announced by the Russian state corporation following a meeting between Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and the Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin also participated in the meeting.
According to TASS, Rosatom specified that cooperation could include the construction of large, medium, and small-capacity nuclear power plants, as well as the implementation of related projects, including non-nuclear ones.
It is noted that Likhachev briefed the Armenian side on the progress of work to extend the life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC again and also discussed in detail the construction of new nuclear power units in the republic.
Earlier, RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan stated that the Armenian authorities had decided that the new nuclear power plant would be modular, but the final choice would be made in 2026–2027.
"We continue to review proposals, including with partners from Russia, the United States, China, South Korea, and France," Khudatyan said.
The Armenian side is already reviewing a preliminary feasibility study for the construction of a new 1200 MW unit developed by the Rosatom state corporation.
