Russia imposes temporary ban on sugar exports. Armenia not affected
YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. The Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose, TASS reports citing a decree of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers.
"The restriction will be in effect until August 31, 2024. The decision is aimed at maintaining the stability of the domestic food market," the statement said.
The resolution provides for several exceptions. Thus, sugar supplies will be possible to the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union in certain volumes. In particular, it is allowed to export 28 thousand tons to Armenia, 5 thousand tons to Belarus, 120 thousand tons to Kazakhstan, and 28.5 thousand tons to Kyrgyzstan.
The decision to temporarily ban sugar exports was approved by the subcommittee on customs-tariff and non-tariff regulation, protective measures in foreign trade.-0-
