YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved a program to compensate customs duties on fruit, vegetable, and flower exports to the EU, UK, and Canada.

Deputy Economy Minister Arman Khojoyan stated that the export support program has been in effect since February 1, 2025, and has already increased export volumes by an average of 15%.

"For a number of key product groups, including canned goods, juices, and other food products, the growth was around 40%," he said.

According to Khojoyan, until now the program only applied to processed products. The new decision is also aimed at supporting agricultural producers.

According to the program, the government will fully reimburse exporters for customs duties paid in these countries when exporting fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers to the EU, the UK, and Canada.

Earlier, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced that the government intends to reimburse customs duties on fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers exported to the EU.

The announcement comes amid Russia's temporary restrictions on the import of certain types of Armenian fruit and vegetable products. The reason cited is "increasing violations of phytosanitary requirements of the EAEU and Russia."

The Rosselkhoznadzor restrictions affected flowers, certain vegetables, greens, strawberries, fresh grapes, stone and pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits. Rosselkhoznadzor also stated that Armenia must suspend veterinary certification of live fish and fish products for most Armenian companies, with the exception of two enterprises that passed inspection.

In addition, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and circulation in Russia of batches of Jermuk mineral water, as well as wine and cognac from three Armenian producers.
