Yerevan Mall and French Carrefour sign preliminary cooperation agreement
YEREVAN, May 13. / ARKA /. Before wrapping up his state visit to Armenia today French president Francois Hollande and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan attended the signing of an agreement between Yerevan Mall and French retailer Carrefour.

Under the agreement the French company will set up its first store in Armenia inside Yerevan Mall.
Sargsyan and Hollande visited also the construction site of the Carrefour store where they were told about the pace of the work.

The two Presidents also visited Orange Armenia telecom’s sales and services store located at Yerevan Mall, where they were told about the company’s services, innovative offers, as well as its development programs in Armenia.

Earlier, Vazrik Sekoyan, the chief manager of Yerevan Mall said the first Carrefour store in Armenia will open in the third quarter of this year.

Carrefour was originally expected to open its first shop at Dalma Garden hypermarket in Yerevan owned by a Russia-based Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan last year shortly after the French retail giant launched its store in neighboring Georgia in September 2012.

However, the chain's entry into the Armenian market was reportedly held back by a local wealthy businessman Samvel Alexanyan, controlling the lucrative imports of food and fast-moving consumer goods to the country. -0-
