YEREVAN, June 9. /ARKA/. Russian car market statistics improved in May, but car prices continued dropping. Car dealers are not willing to go on with discount schemes and prepare to raise the prices this summer or autumn.
A total of 125,800 new cars and LCVs (light commercial vehicles) were sold in Russia in May, 37.7% less than the year before, head of the Association of European Business (AEB) said.
Yet, a moderate recovery in general consumer activity is recorded due to reduction in bank rates and prices for new cars amid the strengthening of ruble, according to Jörg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee. All this factors will contribute to slowing down of the sales decline, Schreiber said. –0--
