Armenia denies Azerbaijani claims of ceasefire violations
YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied recent claims made by Azerbaijan that Armenian forces opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in the early hours of Friday.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense claimed that around 03:20 local time, Armenian forces fired towards their positions located in the western part of the border zone. Armenia's defense authorities have stated that these accusations are baseless.
In response, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reiterated that the Prime Minister's Office of Armenia had proposed to Azerbaijan, through diplomatic channels, the establishment of a bilateral mechanism to investigate alleged ceasefire violations.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense also refuted a similar claim made by Baku on Thursday, where Azerbaijan alleged that Armenian forces fired towards their positions around 18:10 local time, in the southwestern section of the border zone.
