Armenian contract serviceman killed in border skirmish

Armenia's ministry of defense said a contract serviceman, junior sergeant Hovik Tamrazyan, received fatal firearms and shrapnel wounds today at a combat position of one of the military units located in the northeastern direction.

YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenia's ministry of defense said a contract serviceman, junior sergeant Hovik Tamrazyan, received fatal firearms and shrapnel wounds today at a combat position of one of the military units located in the northeastern direction.
According to the ministry, the Azerbaijani side has shown increased activity in the northeastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border trying to fortify its positions and contributing to the growth of tension in the border zone.
It said to suppress the enemy's activity and prevent further exacerbation, the advanced units of the Armenian armed forces were forced to take appropriate actions. The serviceman was killed in one of such action.
The ministry said an investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident. It also conveyed its condolences to the family of the killed serviceman, accusing Azerbaijan of bearing the full responsibility for the growth of tension on the border. -0-
