Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon not affected by Beirut explosion

Armenian peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon were not affected by a powerful explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Tuesday evening, leaving dozens dead and thousands injured, a spokeswoman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan said in a Facebook post.

Armenian peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon were not affected by a powerful explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Tuesday evening, leaving dozens dead and thousands injured, a spokeswoman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan said in a Facebook post.
According to reports from Beirut, the blast killed 100 people and injured more than 4,000. Naghdalyan said six ethnic Armenians were killed and more than a hundred were injured.
“The Armenian Embassy in Lebanon is in constant contact with the Armenian peacekeepers. Ambassador Vahagn Atabekyan contacted them this morning. According to the ambassador, the peacekeepers are serving in the southern section of the border, which is quite far from the explosion scene. The life of the peacekeepers is not in danger, they continue their usual service,” Naghdalyan wrote.
Armenian peacekeepers have been serving in Lebanon as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon mission since November 2014. -0-
