Armenian president sends telegram of condolences to Russian counterpart over maritime disaster

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolences on Thursday to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the tragic death of seafarers in a maritime disaster in the Sea of Okhotsk.

YEREVAN, April 2. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolences on Thursday to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the tragic death of seafarers in a maritime disaster in the Sea of Okhotsk.
"President Sargsyan asked president Putin to convey his sincere sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims" Sargsyan’s press service said.
According to Russian media reports, the Dalniy Vostok fishing vessel sank off the Kamchatka peninsula on Thursday, killing at least 56 of the 132 crew. Sixty-three people were rescued but 13 were still unaccounted for.
The accident occurred so quickly that the trawlers captain, who drowned, did not manage to send a distress signal.-0-
