Fire re-occurs in Spayka building, extinguished promptly

A fire broke out again in the building of a major freight forwarding company Spayka in Yerevan, but was extinguished within several minutes, Armenia’s ministry of emergencies reported.

YEREVAN, May 17. /ARKA/. A fire broke out again in the building of a major freight forwarding company Spayka in Yerevan, but was extinguished within several minutes, Armenia’s ministry of emergencies reported.
A major fire occurred in Spayka company building in a production area on the outskirts of Yerevan Wednesday night. The blaze burnt down a total of 15,000 square meters of cold storages, production lines, loaders and plastic items. There were 18 squads, 4 fire-fighting escapes, more than 110 firemen and rescuers involved in fire-fighting operations. The blaze that was said to be of the third degree of complexity was contained at 13:15 and extinguished at 14:30. Two firemen suffered injuries fr om the blaze.
According to the ministry of emergencies, smoke was reported at Spayka building on May 17 at 01:42. A squad and an emergency response group arrived at the place and found out one cubic meter of plastic waste caught fire. The fire was contained at 01:57 and extinguished at 01:59, according to the report.
“Spayka” lim ited company founded in 2001 is a major Armenian freight forwarding company and is engaged in international motor freight transportation throughout the CIS countries and Europe. The company is also manufacturing packaging, boxes and palettes from polystyrene in particular.–0—
