Russian president Dmitry Medvedev praised the Armenian community of Russia for its active involvement in the country’s economic and social life and modernization of the society
YEREVAN, November 17, /ARKA/. Russian president Dmitry Medvedev praised the Armenian community of Russia for its active involvement in the country’s economic and social life and modernization of the society in a message he sent to the Union of Russian Armenians to convey his congratulations on the occasion of the organization’s tenth anniversary, Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported.
‘For centuries Russian and Armenian peoples have been bound by sincere friendship and sympathy, based on mutual respect. Traditions of close cooperation have been passed from generation to generation helping to enrich our cultures. Russia has become a second home for hundreds of thousands of Armenians,’ his message says.
Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan who arrived in the Russian capital Tuesday to take part in the event to mark the anniversary was scheduled to meet with Dmitry Medvedev today.
The Union of Russian Armenians was founded in 2000. It is headed by a Russia-based Armenian businessman Ara Abrahamian, a UNESCO good will ambassador. –0--
