YEREVAN, January 21. /ARKA/. On Friday, Vahan Arakelyan was elected as vice-mayor of Yerevan by the city council. Before the election, he was the financial deputy director general of ArmRosgasprom.
Arakelyan was recommended for this position by Karen Karapetyan, the recently elected mayor, as ARKA News Agency correspondent reports.
“I know Arakelyan as skilled financier. I can even say he is one of the best financiers in the country,” the mayor said before the vote.
The newly elected vice-mayor told journalists that he had already looked through some normative acts related to financial situation in Yerevan, but was still not ready to comment on it.
He also denied allegations about outflow of personnel from ArmRosgasprom on an initiative of the mayor, who ran the company until recently.
“Nothing like that. I quitted ArmRosgasprom yet before Karapetyan was elected as mayor,” he said. -0-
