The reforms and the development of European integration will be continued in Armenia, Chairman of Armenian Parliament Tigran Tororsian said at his meeting with PACE President Rene van der Linden.
YEREVAN, July 4. /ARKA/. The reforms and the development of European integration will be continued in Armenia, Chairman of Armenian Parliament Tigran Tororsian said at his meeting with PACE President Rene van der Linden.

Torosian expressed gratitude for the appreciation of the parliamentary elections in Armenia, which has been an important indicator for the country, the Press Service of the Armenian Parliament reported.

Rene van der Linden, in his turn, congratulated the Speaker on the up-to-standard parliamentary elections held in the country and attached importance to the development of reforms.

PACE President addressed the issue on the amendments to the Law about Television and Radio that provides for the ban on broadcast of other organizations on the frequencies of Public TV and Radio Company of Armenia.

In response to clarifications made by the Parliament Speaker Rene van der Linden expressed satisfaction that no attempts are made to restrict the freedom of any mass media outlet in Armenia.

PACE President also attached importance to the reforms of judiciary and the role of the parliament in that process.

“Now steps are made to introduce the new Judicial Code, and the National Assembly is ready to promptly respond to any problems that may occur in this process,” Armenian Parliament Speaker said in response.

PACE President also attached importance to the holding of the presidential elections in line with democratic standards and addressed the problem of Election Code reforms.

In his turn, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament said that the conclusion of the Venice Commission on Election Code is under consideration now and if required respective proposals on amendments to the code will be submitted for discussion at the fall session of the parliament.

Among the participants of the meeting were Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Commission on European Integration Avet Adonts, Special Representative of Secretary General of CE Boyana Urumova and Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe Christian Ter-Stepanian. N.V. –0--
