Russian president Dmitry Medvedev is holding talks with his Armenian opposite number, Serzh Sargsyan, who arrived in the Russian capital October 23 on a three-day state visit, Russian RIA Novostri news agency reported saying the two men plan to discuss economic and military-technical cooperation and interaction within international organizations.
"I would like to once again welcome you in Moscow and say again that this year is very important in the history of our relations, because it was marked by a number of very important decisions regarding the multi-faceted and allied cooperation," Medvedev was quoted as saying when opening the talks in a narrow circle.According to him, Serzh Sargsyan’s state visit symbolizes strategic partnership that links Russia and Armenia.
Medevdev said the two sides will have full-fledged negotiations both in the narrow and enlarged format on virtually all segments of bilateral relations, including economic and military-technical cooperation.
In turn, president Sargsyan stressed the special nature of the relationship between the two countries.
"We are pleased with the current level of political dialogue at the level of heads of state, heads of government and ministerial level. We have created an atmosphere in which we can discuss any issue which I think is the most important thing," said Sargsyan.
He also said the pace of trade and economic relations between the two countries is on the rise.
"I am delighted that today we will sign a big humanitarian agreement, because we emphasize this aspect of our cooperation as well," said Sargsyan.
After enlarged talks Medvedev and Sargsyan will hold a joint press conference. -0-
