YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. Incorporation of Nagorno-Karabakh into Azerbaijan is inadmissible, the leader of the National Democratic Union, ex-Premier of Armenia Vazgen Manukian told a press conference.
“For Armenia this fact is of no doubt and is not something to be debated. Nagorno-Karabakh is of special historic, political and economic value to Armenia,” he said.
According to Manukian, even if, supposedly, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) is incorporated into Azerbaijan, obviously the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev will make every effort to liquidate Nagorno-Karabakh. The ex-Premier also pointed out the negligible number of politicians in Armenia who believe that territorial concessions are to be made in order to settle the conflict.
According to Manukian, the number of politicians speculating over the Karabakh problem decreased in Armenia.
“On the eve of the1995 parliamentary elections and the 1998 presidential elections the Karabakh problem was being speculated over, whereas in the parliamentary elections of 2003 and 2007 this topic was not addressed. It is a positive factor,” Manukian said.
The military actions in the Karabakh conflict zone were ceased on May 12 1994 when a cease-fire agreement was signed. Since 1992 till now negotiations have been held on peaceful settlement of the conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chaired by representatives of USA, Russia and France. N.V. –0--
