Armenia and Iran discuss Crossroads of Peace and construction of North-South motorway corridor

Iran supports the  Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project on the basis of the principles enshrined in it,  Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian said today at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, 9 January. /ARKA/. Iran supports the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project on the basis of the principles enshrined in it, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian said today at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.

The Armenian Prime Minister described as symbolic the fact that Ahmadian is the first high-ranking foreign official to visit Armenia in the new year, noting that it underlines the importance and deep character of Armenian-Iranian relations, the press service of the Armenian government reported.

Pashinyan added that there is one inviolable guarantee in the relations between the two countries - Armenia and Iran are bound together by natural interests, pointing to the Armenian government's interest in the consistent development and expansion of bilateral cooperation in all directions.

Ahmadian underlined that the rich civilizational past of Armenia and Iran and the warm contacts between the two peoples inspire confidence that the mutually beneficial cooperation will be further strengthened and deepened.

The sides discussed a set of issues related to the dynamic development of bilateral relations and expressed confidence that they have new opportunities for cooperation, including in the areas of technologies, industry, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, road construction.

The sides stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the construction of the North-South motorway. They expressed confidence that the construction of the motorway will also increase bilateral trade turnover and cargo traffic.-0-
