Armenia is not going to leave the EAEU - Papoyan
YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. Armenia is a member of the EAEU, and does not have the issue of leaving this union on its agenda, said RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, commenting to journalists on the process of the republic's rapprochement with the EU.

"Our actions are not "for" or "against" any country and cannot be. It would be a series of bad actions if we planned our actions against or for any country. Everything we do, we do for the Republic of Armenia," Papoyan said at a briefing on Thursday.

According to him, Armenia is bringing its legislation and regulations into line with the best regulations in the world.

"For example, next week the National Assembly will adopt four directives of the European Union that concern the protection of consumer rights and competition," Papoyan said.
About Armenia and the EAEU

According to Armstat, in 2024, Armenia's trade volume with the EAEU grew by 54%, exceeding $12.7 billion and accounting for more than 42.2% of the country's total foreign trade turnover. Armenia's largest partner in the EAEU is Russia (trade turnover for January-December was $12.4 billion, an increase of 56.5% over the year).

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia does not plan to sever economic ties and does not set the task of reducing trade turnover with the EAEU and Russia. According to him, Armenia is on the path of economic diversification and wants to increase trade turnover with the European Union as well.
