YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. The purpose of renaming Armenia's Foreign Ministry is to make the economic component and function more relevant in the country's international relations, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated.

According to the government press service, Pashinyan and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan held a meeting with the leadership of the Foreign Ministry and participants of the annual working meeting of the heads of diplomatic missions abroad.

During his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the decision to change the name of the Foreign Ministry, which will be renamed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

According to Pashinyan, a similar practice exists in a number of countries.

"The main goal is to also make the economic component and function relevant in international relations," the Prime Minister noted.

Pashinyan also touched on the Armenian government's balanced and equitable foreign policy, its fundamental directions, the steps taken to diversify the economy, the country's priorities in international relations, and upcoming programs.

Following the Prime Minister's speech, a discussion of current issues on the foreign policy agenda took place.

Representatives of Armenia's legislative and executive branches also participated in the meeting.
