YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s incumbent government is right in its desire to change the ally Russia, taking into account the painful experience of recent years, says French writer, geopolitics expert, lecturer at the Paris Institute of Political Studies Frederic Encel.

According to him, Russia is playing a double game. Having signed a military mutual assistance agreement with Armenia, Russia did nothing when Azerbaijan attacked Armenia in May 2021 and September 2022 It remained silent in 2023, when ethnic cleansing took place in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"So this is an ally that in reality is not an ally. I am not saying that it is easy for a rather vulnerable, weak country like Armenia to choose a desired ally. I believe that the current authorities are right in wanting to change the ally," he said during the Amundi-Acba 2024 Economic Forum.
