Armenian human rights defender tenders resignation application

Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan has submitted a resignation application, according to a statement on his Facebook page.
YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan has submitted a resignation application, according to a statement on his Facebook page.
"The Ombudsman wishes to thank all the partners for cooperation and expresses hope that the protection of human rights will remain a priority of our state and society," according to the statement.
Andreasyan was elected Human Rights Defender by parliament on March 2, 2011. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University and continued his studies at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), Oxford University, the Canadian Center for Human Rights and the European Journalism Centre (Netherlands).
He has a PhD in law, and is an associate professor of Yerevan State University and a member of the Armenian Bar Association. -0-
