YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Over the recent 20 years the Armenian-Kazakh relations have been steadily developing and must now enter a new phase, Artak Zaqaryan, a head of a regular commission on foreign ties at the National Assembly, said Wednesday at the conference “ 20 years of cooperation and mutual understanding between Armenia and Kazakhstan.”

“Over 20 years the both countries have reached a significant progress in cooperation, and we should not only lose the current friendship but also enter a new phase of collaboration,” Zaqaryan clarified.

According to him, in order to reach a progress in further dialogue the legislative bodies of the both states, National Assembly of Armenia, and Kazakhstan’s Senate, should cooperate more actively.

He also noted that as of now Kazakhstan has 30,000-member Armenian community, proving friendly relations with Armenia.

Ambassador ok Kazakhstan to Armenia Ayymdos Bozzhigitov, on his side, underscored the importance of the Armenian-Kazakh partnership development, noting that Armenians play an important role in political, economic and cultural life of Kazakhstan.

The direct commercial turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan hit $ 3 million in the first half. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan rose twice to over $29.7 million in 2011 from 2010.
