YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. According to the union's regulations, only Armenia—that is, a member country that may decide to leave—can discuss the issue of Armenia's status in the EAEU. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a press conference on Friday.
"There is no other procedure. But we can discuss any issue. I assume our partners may have questions. And we will patiently answer them," Pashinyan said.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that Armenia faces a choice between the EAEU and the EU. He also noted that at some point, the Armenian leadership "will have to choose between the European Union (EU) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), if it decides to do so." He reiterated that membership in the EAEU and the EU is incompatible. He also announced that Armenia's status in the Eurasian Economic Union will be discussed by the heads of state at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 29 in Astana.
