YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will approve a new support program for domestic producers at its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan told reporters.
According to him, the new program will apply to a wider range of producers.
"We provide support to producers so they can sell their products with minimal losses. In particular, we provide credit assistance so they temporarily forgo interest or principal payments. This Thursday, the government will adopt a new support program for a wider range of producers," Papoyan said.
The minister noted that despite continued tomato exports from Armenia, significant volumes are also sold on the domestic market. Moreover, tomato prices are currently approximately half what they were a year ago.
"This creates problems for producers, but is a positive factor for consumers," Papoyan stated.
Previously, amid trade restrictions imposed by Russia, the Armenian government approved two support programs for agricultural producers and exporters. These programs include subsidizing the export of greenhouse products (fruits, vegetables, berries, and flowers), and compensating transportation costs and customs duties for shipments to the EU, UK, and Canada.
Restrictions on Products from Armenia to Russia
Effective June 12, 2026, Russia has restricted the import of all quarantine products originating and shipped from Armenia, as well as their transit through Russia to EAEU member states. Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) imposed restrictions on, among other things, Jermuk mineral water, alcoholic beverages, vegetables, fruits, and herbs, as well as, since June 26, fish and fish products.
The agency cited the "systematic detection of quarantine organisms" in plant products and flowers from Armenia as the reason for the restrictions. It is noted that the ban will remain in effect until a specific algorithm for ensuring the safety and traceability of shipped goods is developed.
