A tender has been announced for the design work for the construction of the Gyumri-Kars railway, announced Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
YEREVAN, August 25. /ARKA/. A tender has been announced for the design work for the construction of the Gyumri-Kars railway, announced Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
"In accordance with the procedure established by law, if a company wins the tender, we will first move to the design stage as quickly as possible, and then directly to construction," he said. The minister stated that the competition is international, as Armenian design companies and developers lack experience with projects of this scale.
According to Azatutyun, preliminary estimates indicate that $15 million is required for the construction of the 21-kilometer Armenian section of the Gyumri-Kars railway.
On April 28, a joint working group of the two countries met in Kars to restore and launch the Gyumri-Kars railway line, as part of the agreements reached during the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey. The parties noted the importance of the speedy launch of the Gyumri-Kars railway service in the context of expanding transport communications in the region.
