Executive committee of Republican party of Armenia to convene June 15

The Executive Committee of the governing Republican Party of Armenia will convene on Friday, June 15, to discuss formation of a new government, a spokesman for the party, Eduard Sharmazanov said.
YEREVAN, June 14. /ARKA/. The Executive Committee of the governing Republican Party of Armenia will convene on Friday, June 15, to discuss formation of a new government, a spokesman for the party, Eduard Sharmazanov said.
Earlier Sharmazanov said that the meeting would be held today. Tomorrow’s meeting will be chaired by president Serzh Sargsyan, the chairman of the party.
The Armenian government resigned on May 31, after the first session of the new parliament elected in May 6 polls. On June 2 president Sargsyan re-appointed acting prime minister Tigran Sargsyan. Under the Constitution, the government is to be formed within twenty days after the appointment of prime minister. However, the prime minister told reporters that the new cabinet will be known as early as June 15.
On June 4 president Sargsyan reappointed foreign minister Edward Nalbandian, defence minister Seyran Ohanian and emergency minister Armen Yeritsian. The Republican Party of Armenia controls 69 seats in the 131-seat parliament. -0-
