YEREVAN, February 13. /ARKA/. Armenia continues its dialogue with all partners, including Russia. Its actions are not directed against any country, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said on Thursday, commenting on the draft law to launch Armenia’s accession process to the EU.

"You, of course, know that just a few weeks ago, Armenia’s Foreign Minister paid a working visit to Moscow. There, we had quite constructive discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov," Kostanyan said at a press briefing following a government meeting.

He also addressed the question of whether Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Russia is planned in the near future.

"If such visits are planned, our government partners will certainly inform the public at the appropriate time. Currently, there are no such plans on the agenda," he said.

On Armenia’s EU Accession Process

On January 9, 2025, the Government of Armenia approved a draft law on Armenia’s accession to the EU, proposed by the Platform of Democratic Forces civic initiative, which includes four extra-parliamentary parties and several civil movements). To bring the project before parliament for consideration, the initiative gathered more than 52,000 signatures of Armenian citizens.

On February 12, it was approved by the National Assembly of Armenia in the first reading.  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated earlier that  Armenia can become a member of the EU only if the people approve this initiative through a referendum. He emphasized the need to discuss and develop a joint "road map" with the EU.-0-
