OSCE Minsk Group format must be preserved at any cost - Kocharyan

YEREVAN, February 17. /ARKA/. Armenia's ex-president Robert Kocharyan said today he was sure that the OSCE Minsk Group format on Karabakh settlement should be preserved at any cost.
The Minsk Group had been set up in 1992 to deal with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It was co-headed by the United States, Russia and France.
“Now we are dealing with an actively changing world. No one can clearly say what will happen, but the direction is roughly clear. In this process, it is idiotic to take steps that will lead to irreversible losses in the negotiation process. It is necessary to preserve the Minsk Group at any cost,” Kocharyan said at a press conference.
According to him, if the OSCE MG is dissolved now, it will be extremely difficult to form such a new international format. He said if another working format is created, only then one could speak about its dissolution.
On January 9, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia agreed to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group (demanded by Azerbaijan) as part of proposals to Azerbaijan to establish stability and peace in the region. Pashinyan earlier linked the group’s abolition to the signing of an Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty. -0-
