Pashinyan sets up commission to revise National Security Strategy

YEREVAN, February 19. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decree on Wednesday to create an interagency commission to coordinate the revision of the National Security Strategy.

According to the government website, the new body will be headed by Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan.

It will comprise the heads of two parliamentary standing committees, 12 deputy ministers, the deputy heads of the State Revenue Committee, the director of the National Security Service, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as the head of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan's office, an adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan and the head of the office of the Security Council.

In February 2024, Pashinyan said that Armenia needs a new National Security Strategy that will encompass the interests of protecting the legitimate territorial integrity of the country, as the current strategy (approved in 2020) does not meet the challenges. -0-
