Pashinyan says government restructuring aims at increasing its effectiveness
YEREVAN, January 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a Cabinet session today that the goal of restructuring the government is to make its performance more effective. He said this was one of his election promises.

"I want to note that the purpose and sense of this process is not to save money, but to increase the productivity of the government and government bodies. This is the only goal and in this context we have very serious work to do" said Pashinyan.

“We will try to listen to all opinions regarding all possible configurations and make the most balanced decision,” said Pashinyan.

Regarding the decision to shut down the Ministry of Diaspora, he said an incorrect opinion has been created. He said the aim is to make relations and government cooperation with the vast Armenian Diaspora more productive and in this context the government has a certain model, which it expects to raise relations with the Diaspora to a higher level. He said discussions on this matter will be held soon with partners from the Diaspora.

According to the proposed changes, the number of ministries is to be slashed from current 17 to 12. Some of the ministries will be shut down and others will be merged. The ministries of finance, justice, health and environment will not be affected.-0-
