Russian border guards at Margara checkpoint on Armenian-Turkish border replaced by Armenian border guards

YEREVAN, March 1. /ARКА/. From March 1, 2025, only Armenian border guards will serve at the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish state border, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Telegram channel.
“The Margara checkpoint is not functioning due to the closure of the state border between Armenia and Turkey. In the summer of 2022, by the decision of the Armenian government, the checkpoint was overhauled and Russian border guards were deployed there,” Pashinyan noted.
He thanked the Russian border guards for their service on this section of the Armenian-Turkish state border.
“The transfer of the Margara border checkpoint to the zone of responsibility of the Border Troops of Armenia means that from March 1, 2025, border control of all persons entering and leaving the Republic of Armenia will be carried out exclusively by the Armenian border guards, as they do at all other active or inactive checkpoints,” Pashinyan noted.-0-
