YEREVAN, February 26. /ARKA/. The Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan chaired today the first session of the inter-agency commission set up to coordinate the revision of the country’s National Security Strategy.

According to the press service of the Security Council, the conceptual framework of the revised National Security Strategy was discussed, representatives of the agencies voiced their proposals and observations.

For more effective organization of the work on the revision of the national security strategy, an agreement was reached to create large-scale working groups in the agencies. In the course of the meeting the working order of the interagency commission was approved.

In February 2024, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia needs a new National Security Strategy that would include the interests of protecting the legitimate territorial integrity of the state, as the current strategy approved in 2020 does not meet the current challenges.

On February 19, 2025, Pashinyan signed a decision to create an interagency commission coordinating the work on revising the National Security Strategy.

The Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan explained the need for a new Strategy by the changes in the security environment of the country.-0-
