The agenda for restoring several other railway sections has matured: Pashinyan to Putin
YEREVAN, December 23. /ARКА/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of the need to begin restoring several other railway sections.

"Very important and, fortunately, positive processes are taking place in our region. And I would like to thank you for your support of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. And, as we discussed in our telephone conversation after August 8, the peace achieved will open new opportunities for the further development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia," Pashinyan said at a meeting with Putin in St. Petersburg.

According to the Armenian prime minister, trains from Russia are already traveling to Armenia via Azerbaijan, which "is truly a historic event, and also opens up new opportunities."

According to him, the agenda for restoring several other railway sections has matured in Armenia.

"In particular, I am referring to the Ijevan, Yeraskh, and Akhurik sections. These are the railway lines that connect Armenia with Azerbaijan, the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhichevan, and with Turkey, given the active political process there," the Armenian Prime Minister stated.

He declined to say whether political decisions regarding the reopening of these railways have already been made.

"But I believe the situation has matured to the point that preparatory work is necessary," he noted.

Earlier, on December 18, Pashinyan announced his request to Russia to restore the railways leading to the borders of Azerbaijan and Turkey. He stated that this concerns the sections from Yeraskh to the Azerbaijani border and from Akhurik to the Turkish border, and in the future, the Ijevan-Gazakh section.
