YEREVAN, September 19. /ARKA/ Nagorno-Karabakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan said 25 people have been killed in the fighting launched today by Azerbaijan along the entire line of contact. He said two of the killed persons are civilians.

"According to the information received from Stepanakert morgue by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, as of 20:00, there were 25 victims of the attack, including 2 civilians," Stepanyan wrote in X.

The local health ministry said more than 138 people have been wounded.

The Azerbaijani defense ministry said in a statement Tuesday it launched “local anti-terrorist activities” to “suppress large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic region,” and “to disarm and secure the withdrawal of formations of Armenia’s armed forces from our territories.”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today Armenia's army was not involved in fighting and the situation on the border was “stable”.

Earlier, the Karabakh side appealed to the Azerbaijani side to immediately stop hostilities and sit down at the negotiating table to settle the situation.-0-
