Yerevan intends to open resident embassy in Montevideo

Armenia intends to open a resident embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan said at a last week  meeting with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo, which was part of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries.

YEREVAN, August 22. /ARKA/. Armenia is planning to open a resident embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan said at a last week meeting with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo, which was part of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries.

The opening of resident embassies of both countries is seen as an additional indicator of friendly relations between Armenia and Uruguay.

Hovhannisyan said the planned opening of Armenian resident embassy in Montevideo comes as a response move to the similar decision of the Uruguayan side taken in August 2021.

The sides also discussed cooperation within international organizations., the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.

Hovhannisyan was said to present the current situation with regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressing the importance of the process for the establishment of a lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

Consultations were followed by the signing of an agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on Paying Family Members of the Diplomatic, Consular, Administrative and Technical Staff of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Offices. -0-
