YEREVAN, September 8. /ARKA/. The Yerevan City Council of Elders is discussing the project to create a "Traffic Management Center" at a meeting on Tuesday.
As stated by Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan, the new structure aims to more widely utilize data in decision-making in traffic management and public transportation.
"The first point is the creation of a unified data warehouse. A corresponding environment has already been created for this purpose, accumulating data related to traffic in Yerevan generated by the city's digital systems," Grigoryan said at a meeting of the City Council of Elders.
According to him, there are also plans to install cameras that will count traffic flows at different times of day and throughout the year.
Furthermore, an inventory of Yerevan's traffic light infrastructure has been almost completely completed.
The Deputy Mayor also announced that the creation of appropriate parking facilities at the entrances to the city is under discussion.
Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan announced plans to establish a Traffic Management Center in Yerevan in November 2025.
The Center is expected to serve as a tool for implementing smart transportation technologies and will manage general traffic flows, public transport dispatching, smart traffic lights, and comprehensive traffic accounting.
It was also reported that some functions of the municipal company "Yerevantrans," which is slated for liquidation, will be transferred to the new structure.
