YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. Aram MP3 (Aram Sahakyan) representing Armenia qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest with “Not Alone” song in Copenhagen on Tuesday.
Aram’s show was staged in a minimalist style, with neither backup dances nor vocals, and culminated in an explosion of lights. Towards the end the singer sank into a starry sky on LED screens along the stage.
The other finalists are Montenegro, Hungary, Russia, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Ukraine, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Iceland.
Joining those in the final round are the five countries that are granted automatic entry into the final round – Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom – and this year’s contest host, Denmark.
Another set of ten finalists will be selected on May 8. The final round of the competition will take place Saturday, May 10, where one winner will be chosen based on a mixture of popular voting and judges’ decision. Armenia’s Aram MP3 has been named by betting agencies as the most likely winner in this year’s Eurovision, Asbarez reports.
Armenia has been taking part in Eurovision since 2006. Armenia’s best result came in 2008 when Sirusho placed fourth. –0—
