Armenia buys 400,000 doses of Chinese Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine
YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. Armenia has purchased another batch of China-made Sinopharm coronavirus vaccines, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.
It said in the near future, 400 thousand doses of the vaccine will be available in clinics and mobile vaccination centers throughout the country.
On July 9, the government of Armenia extended the coronavirus quarantine for another six months until December 20, 2021.
The nationwide quarantine was first imposed on September 11, 2020 replacing the state of emergency that was declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
In Armenia, 5 types of Covid-19 vaccines are used now- CoronaVac and Sinopharm (China), AstraZeneka (Britain, Sweden), Sputnik V (Russia) and Spikevax (Moderna, USA). Vaccinations are free for people over 18 years old, including foreigners.-0-
According to Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, as of November 2 some 817,290 doses of the vaccines have been administered in the country of 3 million. More than 562,000 citizens (28% of the total population) have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 254,000 citizens (12%) have received both.
According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 50 people have died from Covid-19 during the past 24 hours. The total tally of such deaths is now 6,491.-0-
