Armenian police detain 5 foreigners suspected of vandalizing capital's subway system

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. Armenian police provided details of a incident in Yerevan subway that took place last Saturday.
According to the acting director of the Yerevan Metro Babken Sedrakyan, the train traveling from the David Sasuntsi station to the Zoravar Andranik station was forced to make an emergency stop due to an act of vandalism.
"On February 1 at 21:32, the police received a signal that masked people had sprayed paint on the carriages on the ground section of the crossing between the David Sasuntsi and Republic Square metro stations. A few minutes later, a second signal was received that the same people were throwing stones at the train and preventing it from moving," the police reported.
The task force that arrived at the scene established that the “emergency stop” lever was activated first, and after the train stopped, several people climbed over the wall at the crossing between the stations, ran up and poured paint on the carriages with passengers.
The hooligans have been identified.
Employees of the capital’s police department, together with employees of the National Security Service and the Noyemberyan police department, detained five foreigners on suspicion of hooliganism who were trying to cross the border through the Bagratashen checkpoint into Georgia.
The detained citizens were transferred to the investigative department of the Erebuni and Nubarashen districts of the capital.-0-
