Armenian government to start searching real owners of companies

The Armenian government intends to do whatever is necessary to reveal real owners of companies. The press office of the Armenian government quoted Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan as saying at a news conference that the government is stuck to its commitments under the Open Government Partnership action scheme as never before and is ready to make certain efforts to reveal real owners.

YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian government intends to do whatever is necessary to reveal real owners of companies. The press office of the Armenian government quoted Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan as saying at a news conference that the government is stuck to its commitments under the Open Government Partnership action scheme as never before and is ready to make certain efforts to reveal real owners.

Liana Galtakhchyan, deputy head of the Armenian prime-ministerial staff, Armenia, along with the governments of 14 countries, has joined the team "Leaders of Open Owners" as part of the Open Government Partnership action program, creating a platform for disclosing real owners.    
She said that the government will start from owners of mining companies  and will gradually be expanding its focus to revelation of real owners of legal entities  operating in other areas.   

Sanjay Pradhan, CEO of the Open Government Partnership, said that the goal of the Armenian government is to transform the democratic revolution into an economic revolution He stressed the importance of the revelation of real owners as the main instrument of struggle against corruption. Sanjay Pradhan said that the disclosure of real owners will enhance public confidence in the government and effectiveness of the struggle against corruption.
