Armenian Health Ministry to tighten licensing of medical clinics after fatality
YEREVAN, October 17. /ARКА/. The Armenian Health Ministry intends to tighten licensing of clinics that perform surgical operations, Minister Anahit Avanesyan said on Thursday.
“This also applies to plastic surgeries,” Avanesyan told reporters.
According to her, the government will soon adopt a package of amendments to the licensing process designed to establish new, higher standards for this area of medical activity.
In addition, the inspection bodies will have to tighten their work,” Avanesyan said. She added that an inspection is already underway at the Artkosmed clinic, and if violations are found, the clinic may lose its license.
On October 8, a 56-year-old woman died in Yerevan after undergoing plastic surgery at the Artkosmed plastic surgery clinic. The family members of the deceased blamed the medical institution for the woman’s death.
As Avanesyan noted, it is necessary to find out whether there was a medical error. If so, then, as Avanesyan noted, the consequences will be very serious. --0--
