YEREVAN, October 22. /ARКА/. Armenian medics confirmed an imported case of measles on October 21. The Ministry of Health said the patient arrived in Armenia on October 6 from Russia. It said clinical symptoms emerged on October 15 in the form of fever, and on October 21 his body was covered with a rash.
On October 20, the patient contacted the Arabkir Medical Complex for Children and Juvenile Health, a laboratory study was carried out, and the patient, whose measles was confirmed, was sent to the Nork Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital.
The ministry said the situation with measles in Armenia is stable, however, since the beginning of the year, seven laboratory-confirmed cases have been registered that are epidemiologically related to Ukraine, Georgia and Russia.
Earlier, on October 8, a laboratory-confirmed case of measles infection was also recorded in Armenia.
Measles is an acute infectious viral disease with a very high level of infectivity, which is characterized by severe intoxication, catarrhal manifestations and a rash. The infection is transmitted by airborne droplets.
The Ministry of Health says vaccination is the safest and most effective measure, thanks to which millions of lives are saved every year. "Citizens who have not received at least two doses of measles vaccination are encouraged to go to the district clinic and get vaccinated," the report says. -0-
