Birth rate in Armenia up by 2.6% in the first half of the year

Armenia's birth rate increased by 2.6% in January-June 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported.

YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's birth rate increased by 2.6% in January-June 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported.
It said that some 16,939 babies were born during the reporting period, up from 16,511 newborns in the same time span of 2022.
However, compared to the same period of 2021, when 17,249 babies were born, the birth rate was down 1.8%.
There were 205 cases of stillbirths in the first six months of 2023, .8% less than in the same period of 2022 and 14.2% less than in the same period of 2021.
The rate of newborn girls to newborn boys was 100 to 110, down from 111 a year ago.-0-
