Criminal scheme of tax evasion by IT companies uncovered in Armenia

YEREVAN, November 18. /ARKA/. Acting on a tip Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC) and the National Security Service (NSS) uncovered a new case of economic crime.
According to NSS, in order to avoid paying true tax liabilities, three IT and computer technology companies in Yerevan registered officially only part of their employees who were paid only part of their wages (the larger part was paid in cash and undeclared).
It turned out that the owners of these companies failed to register tens of employees as required by law in June –September 2022 avoiding to pay large amounts of taxes.
The NSS initiated criminal proceedings under the relevant article of the Armenian Criminal Code, which was referred to the SRC for preliminary investigation.
As a result of searches carried out in the offices of the companies dozens of unregistered employees were detected. In addition, documents, electronic carriers, computer hard drives, about 580 computers, 220 cell phones and 3 servers important for the investigation were seized.
Legitimacy of the companies' activity is being examined and measures are being taken to identify the entire range of persons who could have been involved in the criminal scheme and to clarify the final amount of damage caused to the state. -0-
