Issues related to the feasibility of introducing an e-gate system at border crossing points in Armenia, as well as its technical and functional components, were recently discussed at a meeting chaired by Deputy Interior Minister Armen.
YEREVAN, May 20. /ARKA/. Issues related to the feasibility of introducing an e-gate system at border crossing points in Armenia, as well as its technical and functional components, were recently discussed at a meeting chaired by Deputy Interior Minister Armen.
According to the Interior Ministry's press service, it was emphasized that the e-gate system will automate border control, reduce the time it takes to process citizens, and improve identification mechanisms.
It was noted that the system will enable automated biometric identification.
The technical maintenance of the system and its software were discussed. It was emphasized that for the system to operate effectively, the implementation of data processing, risk assessment, and risk management mechanisms is essential, which will expedite border control procedures.
The working discussion was attended by Nelly Davtyan, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service; Nerses Yeritsyan, Chair of the Information Systems Regulatory Commission; and representatives of partner agencies.
