First Armenia-Russian youth forum kicks off in Yerevan

YEREVAN, February 12. /ARKA/. The first Armenian-Russian youth forum kicked off in Yerevan on Thursday, Novosti-Armenia reports. 


The forum’s mission is to develop international youth cooperation and to get the Russian and the Armenian youth involved in socioeconomic development of their countries Russian ambassador Ivan Volinkin said in his welcoming message, as cited by director of the Russian science and culture center in Yerevan Mark Kalinin. 

The forum participants will be considering current issues, including EEU development related challenges. 

Over four years the EEU integration project has been raised to a new level and opens up today a variety of opportunities for economic development, for youth in particular, the ambassador said. 

“It is your creativity, thoughtfulness and consistency that our countries will depend on in building prosperity”, Volinkin said in his address to the young people. 

The first Armenian-Russian youth forum is held in Yerevan on February 12-14. The event is to develop intercultural dialogue and humanitarian cooperation between young people of Armenia and Russia, to support youth politics and create youth unions. 

Ministers and deputy ministers responsible for youth policies and international relations are expected to participate in the forum on Armenia’s side. From the Russian side, the head of the federal agency for youth affairs and representatives of various youth organizations will attend the forum. 

An agreement on cooperation between the Armenian ministry of youth affairs and sports and the Russian state-funded International Youth Center is expected to be signed at the forum. About 150 young people from Armenia and Russia, representing state agencies and youth movements will participate in the event. 

The main discussion topics are economic development prospects, small and midsized joint ventures in the EEU, public diplomacy and youth parliaments, preservation of historic and cultural heritage and deeper youth cooperation in the framework of events on the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. –0--
